My role:

Working in the team with Product Manager and Engineers, I led research, design, and validation.

Designing custom features in the SaaS platform enhanced security and employees confidence resulting in 35% increase of adoption.

Working on Digital Transformation, helping 40k employees move from the data management platform to the new communication platform required designed custom features to address the employees' unique security, risk, and confidentiality needs. The designed features included: specific access control settings, restricted libraries, provisioning for designated use cases, and custom application for migrating files to the new one tool. I will show my process on the example of Restricted libraries.

Process

Understanding employees’ needs and testing early prototypes

The process began by defining the feature's specifics based on employees needs and articulating security parameters. Prototypes were created for early user feedback. Insights from testing were used to refine the final design. Oversight during implementation ensured specifications were met, followed by rigorous testing to identify bugs and security issues. This approach ensured the custom features effectively met employees and clients needs as well as compliance standards.

Testing the flow with users

All decisions were made based on the user research. I conducted multiple rounds of user testing and gathered insights to refine UI elements, ensuring a seamless user experience for end-users in the migration process.

Two columns list of libraries with Cancel/Save buttons on the bottom

Two columns list of libraries with Cancel/Save buttons for each library

Two columns accordion of libraries with Cancel/Save buttons for each library

After testing we decided to proceed with the accordion option.

After implementing changes after testing with users I designed the mockups and worked with engineers on deploying and testing the feature

Design system

Merging and balancing design systems in designing integrations

Designing custom features within vendor products necessitated the integration of the vendor design system with our organization's design system. By introducing custom solutions, we ensured that they fit seamlessly into the existing products.

To streamline the design process for future designers, we created bespoke Figma components that integrated elements from both the Firm’s and the vendor’s design systems.
